"My Life as an artist began in 1957 when I was given special entrance to the Corcoran School of Art, Washington D.C., to study sculpture. My love of color and texture combined when viewing an exhibit of ancient mosaic floors." -Ellen Gould.

Following art studies at American University, the University of Wisconsin and the Columbia school of Fine Art, Ellen designed touch-sensitive alphabet and numerical teaching materials, which are widely sold today. Ellen is retired after 26 years as a Montessori teacher and works at her Claireview studio, in Berkeley Springs, where visitors are welcome.
